Carrots!

Look what wintered over!! Looking at our garden, which needs desperately to be tilled, I saw several carrot leaves bushing up. The first two we pulled up were these that James is holding and they tasted pretty good ;) The next 4 or 5 I pulled up looked like the critters had gotten to them or they just were no good. I also saw some onions growing, but no visible bulbs, and when I tried to dig one up, still no bulb. I don't think they'd be ready 'til later... and unfortunately they will be buried in a couple weeks when we do rototill. I was hoping maybe some cucumbers or watermelons would've seeded themselves, but there was none to be found. :(

Sunday Morning

This past week I crafted a tie for Lucas. I followed the same pattern as I did for James, only cut it a bit shorter. I should've made his with an easy release on the back, however, to avoid strangulation! Because, what's the first thing he does when I put it on him, but give it a good hard yank. Boys... don't they know how great they look in a tie?

Sunny Days are Here Again!

We spent most of the day outside today and the boys are looking healthy with their rosy cheeks. here are a few shots...

James is really getting the hang of bicycling. I only had to help him start a few times as he rode back and forth on the cement slab.

I can't wait for Lucas to start walking! He's more interested in trying lately so we'll see how it goes. Poor kid was scooting along on the cement and that wasn't feeling so nice, so to come back to me he crawled (which he never does) ever so gingerly. Maybe he'll walk sooner than later the more time we spend outside :)

Our Backyard.

This is a close up of our lawn. We are far from picky about our lawncare as you can see by the array of flowers present :) But I think it is beautiful! Why should I spend money trying to kill such a beautiful part of God's creation?

A Day at the Park

It was a beautiful day today so we met up with some friends for a day at the park and a picnic lunch. It's so nice to get out again after a long winter :) James and Lucas used to be the only boys in the crowd, but just about 6 weeks ago, along came mr. Gideon to keep them company... what a little peanut, eh?
I have to say that at the park all went well until I pushed James a little too hard on the swing... off he flew, flipped a bit and landed on his belly. He literally ate dirt, poor guy. But I'm proud to say that after a few well deserved tears, and a lesson in spitting water out of his mouth, James was back at it, asking to "try again". That's our boy!!
